As a puppy Sweet-P was a failure to thrive baby, gaining not even a fraction of an ounce during the first two weeks of her life . . . her littermates growing HUGE in contrast to her. She nursed from her mom, and from bottles, but somehow did not seem to utilize those calories into weight gain/growth. In spite of this, she remained strong and alert . . . then came the magic day when the scale actually moved a half ounce, with weight recorded daily thereafter.
Needless to say, she was spoiled rotten, and you'd never know to look at her as an adult that she had any infancy problem! She's was quite "the looker" and I often wished I'd had spare change to show her to her daddy's credit . . . although Sweet-P later went on to live with a new family where she endeared herself to all who met her and was a champion to that household.
Sweet-P went to live in Illinois with loving people who lost one of her children, Rudy, to bone cancer (osteosarcoma) around his age of a mere 18 months.
They needed her special love to help fill their void, and she needed the special attention she would receive as their special pet versus one of many here.
Alas, we are saddened to report that Sweet-P passed away just before Christmas of 2005 . . . she will be missed by all.
